The Experience
Before the gong bath, we’ll begin with a gentle 45‑minute practice blending Hatha, Yin, Somatic Yoga, and Yoga Nidra. This combination helps to settle the nervous system and support the craniosacral system, preparing the body and mind for deep rest. During the Gong, there is also the option to receive Craniosacral touch—a light, intuitive contact that listens to the body’s innate wisdom and supports its natural capacity to heal.
All bodies are welcome. The yoga is designed to be gentle and accessible, but if on the day you prefer not to move, you are equally welcome to simply rest and “be” in the space.
Sound baths are suitable for everyone, at any stage of life. You’ll lie comfortably on the floor with your own blanket and pillow, while the waves of sound from the Gong wash over you. The vibrations invite a deep meditative state, teaching you to let go and simply receive. For those new to meditation, this can be a beautiful way to begin—especially if quieting the mind feels difficult in more traditional practices.
The Benefits
Many people find that sound baths bring:
-
A more relaxed body and mind
-
Reduced stress and anxiety
-
Improved sleep and restfulness
-
Clearing of heavy or negative emotions
-
Increased creativity, intuition, and motivation
-
Release of self‑limiting patterns that no longer serve you
There is also the possibility of physical healing, as sound frequencies and vibrations can gently influence the body’s cells, encouraging balance and restoration. In fact, vibration and sound waves are already used in aspects of western medicine, such as shock wave therapy for breaking down kidney stones.
Contraindications
For safety, it is advisable to seek guidance from your medical practitioner if you:
-
Are in the first trimester of pregnancy
-
Live with a severe mental health condition
-
Have a sound‑sensitive condition (e.g. tinnitus, Ménière’s, epilepsy)
-
Have a heart condition or pacemaker (sound can affect rhythm and resonate with implants)
-
Have metal implants, screws, plates, or pins that may resonate with sound

Tanya
Tanya is a yoga teacher, gong practitioner and counsellor who works with Paiste Gong Chiron to create a meditative experience where participants are “bathed” in sound waves. The intention is to help balance the energy of the participants, create deep relaxation as participants learn to let go, and an increased sense of well-being, expanded awareness and possible access to visionary experiences.

Gong Chiron
Chiron's Symbolism

Chiron is often associated with the "wounded healer" and can be seen as a catalyst for accessing deeper wounds, moving forward with strength, compassion, and wisdom.

It is tuned to the orbital properties of Chiron, a celestial body in our solar system, as calculated by Hans Cousto, with a fundamental note of D#2.
