Somatic Therapy

(Herne Bay • Canterbury • Online Across the UK)

Listening to the Body’s Story

Somatic therapy is a gentle, body‑based approach that helps you understand how stress, trauma and emotion live not only in your mind, but also in your nervous system. Many people come to somatic work when talking alone hasn’t shifted the deeper layers of tension, overwhelm or stuckness.

You might notice:

  • tightness in your chest or throat

  • a constant sense of alertness

  • exhaustion that doesn’t make sense

  • feeling “shut down” or disconnected

  • emotions that feel too big or too distant

  • patterns that repeat even when you understand them

These experiences are not personal failings they are your body’s way of protecting you.

Somatic therapy offers a safe, steady space to gently unwind these patterns and reconnect with your inner sense of safety.

What Is Somatic Therapy?

Somatic therapy works with the connection between your body, emotions and nervous system. Instead of focusing only on thoughts or stories, we pay attention to:

  • sensations

  • breath

  • tension and release

  • grounding

  • impulses

  • the body’s natural rhythms

This helps you understand what your body has been holding — and how to soften, regulate and move through it at a pace that feels safe.

How I Work Somatically

I offer somatic therapy in Herne Bay, near Canterbury, and online across the UK, weaving together:

  • Nervous system awareness

  • Understanding how your body responds to stress, overwhelm or past experiences.

  • Gentle tracking of sensations

  • Noticing what’s happening inside without pressure or analysis.

  • Grounding and regulation tools

  • Supporting your body to settle, soften and feel more in control.

  • Breath and micro‑movement

  • Inviting small shifts that help release tension or emotional holding.

  • Sound‑based therapeutic work

  • Using sound to support deep rest, nervous system settling and emotional release.

  • Creative and reflective processes

  • Optional tools such as tapping or card‑based reflection to deepen insight.

Everything unfolds slowly, intuitively and with your consent.
There is no pushing, no forcing, no expectation to “go deeper” before you’re ready.

Why Somatic Therapy Helps

When the body feels safe, the mind can soften.
When the nervous system settles, clarity returns.
When tension releases, emotions become easier to hold.

Somatic therapy can support:

  • trauma held in the body

  • anxiety and overwhelm

  • burnout and chronic stress

  • emotional numbness or shutdown

  • difficulty relaxing or sleeping

  • feeling disconnected from yourself

  • patterns that feel stuck

  • a sense of being “too much” or “not enough”

It helps you reconnect with your body as an ally, not a battleground.

 Who I Work With

I offer somatic therapy for:

  • adults

  • young adults

  • children (using gentle, age‑appropriate approaches)

Sessions are available in Herne Bay, Canterbury, or online if you prefer to work from home.

A Gentle Path Back to Yourself

Somatic therapy is not about reliving your past.
It’s about creating enough safety in the present for your body to release what it no longer needs to hold.

If you feel drawn to this way of working, you are welcome here.
