Trauma Therapy

Trauma is not only what happened to you. It is also what stayed inside you,  the tension, the fear, the shutdown, the patterns your body learned in order to survive. Trauma therapy offers a safe, steady space to gently explore these experiences and begin to release what no longer needs to be carried alone.

I offer trauma‑informed counselling in Herne Bay, Canterbury and online across the UK. My approach is grounded, relational and somatic, supporting both your emotional world and your nervous system at a pace that feels safe.

Understanding Trauma

Trauma can come from a single event or from many small moments over time. It may show up as overwhelm, anxiety, numbness, exhaustion or a sense of being disconnected from yourself. You might notice:

Feeling constantly on edge
Difficulty relaxing or sleeping
Emotional shutdown or numbness
Repeating patterns you can’t seem to shift
A sense of being too much or not enough
Tension in your body that never fully settles
Memories or feelings that surface unexpectedly

These responses are not weaknesses. They are your body’s way of protecting you.

How Trauma Therapy Helps

Trauma therapy offers a calm, compassionate space where you can begin to understand your experiences without pressure or judgement. Together, we explore what feels difficult in a way that honours your pace and your capacity.

Therapy can help you:

Feel more grounded and regulated
Understand your emotional patterns
Reconnect with your body safely
Soften long‑held tension
Develop tools for managing overwhelm
Make sense of your story
Rebuild trust in yourself and others
Move towards a life that feels steadier and more connected

Healing is not about reliving the past. It is about creating enough safety in the present for your system to release what it has been holding.

My Approach to Trauma Therapy

My work weaves together talking therapy, somatic awareness and gentle nervous system support. This allows us to work with both the emotional and physical layers of trauma.

Sessions may include:

Grounded therapeutic conversation
Noticing sensations and body responses
Gentle regulation and grounding tools
Understanding your nervous system patterns
Sound‑based therapeutic work to support deep rest
Creative or reflective processes when helpful

Everything unfolds slowly and collaboratively. You remain in control of the pace and direction at all times.

Who I Support

I offer trauma therapy for adults, young adults and children in Herne Bay, Canterbury and online. Whether your trauma is recent, long‑held, clear or hard to name, you are welcome here.

A Safe Space to Unfold

Trauma therapy is not about forcing change. It is about creating a space where your system can soften, your story can be held and your body can begin to feel safe again.
